Outside of my parents, and perhaps a few friends, there were only two people who knew how to really get my attention when I was a young child. One of them has been dead for several years and the other died today.
Update: Oh man, and another one.

Funny how much those cartoons seemed to matter as a kid.
Love watching a good cartoon even today.
Thing is, since we only knew them through their work, and their work lives on, then in a way they have never died.
Ditto on the Munsters.
