I think the headline and lede in the Pantagraph overstate the Barack Obama connection to the move of primary day in Illinois.

SPRINGFIELD -- In a move aimed at helping U.S. Sen. Barack Obama seal up early support in the presidential primary season, Gov. Rod Blagojevich Wednesday approved a plan to move the 2008 Illinois presidential voting date to Feb. 5.

Yes, going earlier with the primary to give Obama a boost from his home state was mentioned by some lawmakers when the change was proposed, but I think the main motive behind it was to keep up with the Joneses (or the Californias and New Jerseys).
