Justice Denied

This is horrible:
The federal judge whom white supremacist Matthew Hale attempted to have
murdered found her husband and mother lying dead in her house when she returned
home Monday night, police said.

Judge Joan H. Lefkow returned to her house in the 5200 block of North
Lakewood Avenue [in Chicago] after work and found the bodies of her husband, attorney Michael F. Lefkow and her mother, Donna Humphrey, lying in blood in the house, police said.

Detectives, U.S. Marshals and FBI agents rushed to the scene and were
investigating the deaths as a "death investigation," police said. Other family
members may also have been present when the bodies were discovered, neighbors
said.

Police sources were cautious about describing the deaths Monday night, and
said it was too early to say how the victims were killed.

I certainly don't know if this was done on behalf of, or at the direction of, Hale but it sure is suspicious.

Hale was from the Peoria area and Peoria Pundit offers up an apology on behalf of all of Central Illinois. While I appreciate the sentiment (and Hale IS an embarrassment), I don't think an apology is needed. No one is holding the rest of us who live here accountable and I don't think there is going to be any lingering association between Hale's hate-mongers and the fine folk who live in the central part of the state. Sadly, racism and hatred can find a home in any part of the country.

In another post, PP also reminds us that Arab hijackers aren't the only terrorists. White American boys like Hale, Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph are quite capable of terrorizing us. Oddly, they are rarely referred to as terrorists.

UPDATE: Eric Zorn blogs more on the case.
