Have you seen those yard signs that simply say “Why?” and then have an internet address? Here’s the link. It’s the web site of Springfield’s Westside Christian Church.
Go ahead, take a look. After all, the site assures us that: “Even non-churchy people are comfortable in West Side’s casual environment.”
"Non-churchy"? Why?

The "non-churchy" comment is a load. I've been to West Side a few times, and I am totally creeped out by the vibe there.
From the overbearing "niceness" of people there to the corny, white-bread worship songs to the phony "Jesus loves you unless you're a fag or a liberal" preaching... the whole vibe freaks me out like none other.
I go when my spouse asks me to go, and it is the worst 75 minutes of my life. I feel as if I am the unknown enemy in the midst of the all the SUV-driving Bush lovers who are members there.
