Authorities Wednesday morning still hadn't officially released the name of a 52-year-old woman killed Tuesday night when a truck hit the bicycle she was riding at Dirksen Parkway and Enos Avenue.

Sangamon County Coroner Susan Boone said Wednesday morning she was having difficulty locating family members of the woman to notify them of the death.

Maybe they're expecting psychics to call in the name?

I agree that on first read it seems kind of odd, but not when you really think about it.

Just because authorities hadn't released her name at the time, doesn't mean that there weren't people who knew her identity and possibly where her next of kin may be. Neighbors usually hear of such things pretty quickly through the grapevine. Other people, possibly family members, may have figured it out based on the description given in the paper and their knowledge of the victims bicycling habits.

Or am I missing the point you were making?
