I like this headline in the today's SJ-R:

Emir pays a friendly visit

Cuz hostile visits are such a bummer. As you read the story, though, it becomes clear maybe there was cause for concern:
The current emir, who was born in the early 1950s, overthrew his father in a bloodless coup in 1995 after the former emir siphoned off petroleum revenues and crippled the country’s economy in the late 1980s and early ’90s, according to the World Factbook Web site.
I hope security checked his pockets before he left the museum.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani seems like a pretty upright fella to me.

For some reason do you have trouble with sons of rulers who take over their nations in bloodless coups?
