A Blog is Whatever You Want It To Be
I guess I’m just not hooked into the Springfield blog scene to the extent that I think I am. Otherwise I would have heard of Kimberly Smoot, Springfield’s most popular blogger. Note to Rich Miller: More glamour shots of Blago and Madigan!

I like her portrait photography but, come on, that blog is just one big ad for her business. I noticed a distinct lack of comments. Other photo blogs I have checked out tend to have loads of comments on the photos. Maybe her readers are just shy.
I've never heard of that blog either. This actually concerns me. I think the concept of the Kimberly Smoot blog is nice; reader interaction and all that. But, I don't think of that as a blog. In my heart I think of a blog as a place for original thoughts from the author. Like what you do.
Rich Miller's winning last year was one thing. His is a blog, and a popular one at that. I think there are far more provocative, insightful, engaging, and entertaining blogs in the Springfield scene.
And I agree with Gish, it's just one long advertisement.
Whoa ... I hadn't even heard of that blog. I'm not 100% tied into everything ... but that was out of the blue. I also agree that while she takes beautiful photos ... it's not much of a blog. Odd ...
Oh look! They have a wall plaque for the Illinois Time's Best Nail Salon on their wall right behind the cash register - well then, this simply must be the best place in town to get my manicure!
Kimberly isn't so nice in person- She was soo pushy that my kids just shut down when she took their pictures. It was an expensive shoot for no pictures and her attitude was "too bad" and refused to rescheadule! I also heard that she bought Springfield, IL Kids Directory and then won't publish it because she is trying to kill her competition's venue to advertise.
I went to google Kimberly to find her phone number to arrange a session and found this. I think its truly funny to whomever anonymously posted above. Kimberly Smoot is one of the most amazing photographers that I have ever seen!! I actually have driven from Kentucky 4 times to have her photograph my family. I think her blog is GREAT it allows reader like me from different states to see our pics when we cannot easily commute back to see them. I have never heard Kimberly refuse anything which is what makes that last post so funny... as a matter of fact the last time I was there (in December) she was specifically on the phone making special arrangements for a client.
I do believe that this was all related to being a BLOG or not as was related to some blog popularity contest and whomever anonymously posted above... you did nothing but attempt to drag her name through the mud. I am sorry to say... what goes around comes around..... you will get yours all too soon.
any smart business and/or person is going to use their blog to promote their product whether that product is political view or photography or whatever. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

I'd take Kyle Shultz at http://kyleshultz.typepad.com/ over her any day.
http://www.lifestorygallery.com/ on the web.
It's not on spfldbloggers.com, it doesn't count.
Thank God I lost.
