The Chimp to Campaign for Schock the Monkey

Well, at least somebody wants to be seen with George W. Bush.
SPRINGFIELD -- President Bush plans to visit Peoria July 25 to hold a private fundraising event for Republican [18th Congressional District] candidate Aaron Schock, the candidate said Thursday.

"I'm honored that the president of the United States is coming to do a fundraiser for me," Schock said.

Hmmmm. Is that who we want representing us in Congress? A Bush true-believer? Who would want that?

Schock’s opponent, Colleen Callahan, sounds pleased that Schock is getting “help” from Bush:

"Is it desperation?" Callahan said. "Does it mean that our opponent is aligning himself with President Bush's policies?"
I would say the answer to that is yes. Can we make this congressional election a referendum on George W. Bush? That would be great.

So right you are. With all the helicopters flying overhead, and streets blocked off I wonder how much this little fund raiser will cost the citizens of Peoria?

It will be a private affair though, millionaires only.

That's Bush's constituency, and always was.

Dave,

I really dont think you want this particular race to be a referendum on Bush. I think Schock is going to win. Plus it seems the dems, at least Obama, are starting to warm up to Bush's policies.

Obama has come out to support the 2nd amendment as an individual right. Has claimed that he may change his unconditional withdrawal plans. Has supported outlawing late term abortions. Has even vowed to expand Bush's faith based programs. Now he supports FISA? And his buddy, Dick Turbin, now supports off-shore drilling.

Where is the change? The only change is in the polls where McCain is now tied with him. So, no, if I were you I wouldnt put my money on Schock's opponent.

He supports reasonable restrictions. Republicans want no restrictions.

Has claimed that he may change his unconditional withdrawal plans. where?
Has supported outlawing late term abortions. Bush wants to out all all abortions and even birth control.
Has even vowed to expand Bush's faith based programs. To include all faiths Bush just funded the evangelicals. And if I remember, Obama won't allow them to fire people based upon their beliefs.
Now he supports FISA? And his buddy, Dick Turbin, now supports off-shore drilling.
Just because you disagree with a candidate on one issue, I would vote for the other guy that I disagree on about everything.

Where is the change?
Umm, I just showed you 2 + 2 <> 5.

On the troop withdrawal:

Democratic presidential candidate, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., center, speaks during his campaign stop in Fargo, N.D., July 3, 2008

In a shocking reversal of Iraq War policy, Barack Obama moves to the RIGHT and now says he would be open to “redefine my policies” about a timeline for withdrawing troops after meeting with American military commanders during his trip to Iraq next month.

Hmm, went to the link that Rick gave me, it was bad (without the ....) Went to the offical BO site and no July speeches, yet.

Yes, Obama did have to come out and clarify his words because they directly contradicted what his position had been. So, he went back to the microphone, regretted what he had said (which is becoming more and more common) and pandered to his left wing nuts again.

You know I could understand him "refining" his positions if it were only 1 or 2 times. But, every time you turn around he is backtracking. And based on current polls where McCain has tied him it looks like his double speak is coming back to bite him.

Looks like the guy archived the story. But it is there: http://www.democratbarackobama.com/page/2/

And is it surprising that his official page doesnt put in everything that he says or changes positions on? Even he couldnt afford to hire enough people to keep his content current as it is constantly changing.

Changing? Huh? Have you seen McSame's?!?

“My 16-month (withdrawal) timeline, if you examine everything that I’ve said, was always premised on making sure that our troops were safe.”

“So my position has not changed, but keep in mind what that original position was. I’ve always said that I would listen to commanders on the ground. I’ve always said the pace of withdrawal would be dictated by the safety and security of our troops and the need to maintain stability. That assessment has not changed. And when I go to Iraq and have a chance to talk to some of the commanders on the ground, I’m sure I’ll have more information and will continue to refine my policies.”

How is that the same as Bush, how is that "flip-flopping"?!? He wants our troops their even after Maliki the leader of a "democracy" asked us to leave. All the retired generals and those who retired say we can not win militarily and the longer we stay the worse it is for everyone, except the AQ. The only General that thinks things are peachy keen and we should stay is the butt kisser Petraus.

And is it surprising that his official page doesnt put in everything that he says or changes positions on?

Quit sniffing your arm pits, he has a issues page . And with all the speeches he gives, they just updated them. He said 16 months and I don't care if it takes 20, all Bush/McSame wants is Oil and a perpetual occupation for their corporate masters. Obama said he'll get the troops out, now if he said he'll keep them their for 100 years(even if it is after an imaginary "winning" of an occupation) that would be a flip-flop.

Of course you can have the Bush/McCain that "stay the course" no matter what new evidence comes up or the situation changes. A real leader needs to be flexible and adapt to changing situations, not staying the course off a damn cliff.

Obama is doing what he must - moving toward the center before the general election - OMG what an unexpected turn of events!

He's preparing for the Presidency by moving closer to what is attainable.

That's what a rational, and responsible person will do, and it shows his honesty. That doesn't mean he was lying before, but it does show he doesn't want to promise something that might hurt the overall plan - which is getting the hell out of the quagmire that Rumsfeld & Cheney Inc., put us in.

Point is - sixteen months, or two years, at least Obama has pledged to get us out of the Iraq mess that the Republican Clown King Bush and his dark but dumb ass overlord Cheney sunk us into.

I see that pledge as a tremendous contrast to what McSame has planned - which is a continual occupation of Iraq - turning a constant corner toward some fuzzy future Iraq which will never come.

McSame is idiotic enough to keep us there for at least eight years.

But we should all listen to him, because Joe Liberman and IAPAC is telling him what to think - attack Iran - drive oil prices toward the moon - and all of his oil industry supporters (his campaign has recvd over one million from the oil industry so far) will make even more record profits as the world economy comes to a halt.

What complete insanity.

But hey, he spent time in a POW camp, and thus knows what he's doing?
