It’s looking like we are going to be deploying even more troops to Iraq in an attempt to impose a military solution to a political problem. That will do nothing but get even more people killed but it seems inevitable now that the President has made up his mind. I must say, I really like David Kurtz’s analysis of the situation here:
The White House is not going to wait for the Democratic Congress or for an extended national debate before it proceeds. There are some indications that the reason for delaying the President's announcement of "The New Way Forward" is so that he can announce a fait accompli. …I wouldn't be surprised to see new deployment orders already issued by the time Democrats officially take over Congress in the first week of January, the President's way of grabbing his crotch and saying, Debate this.Heh, no doubt. And doesn’t the new slogan for the war “The New Way Forward” remind you of something Mao Tse-tung would have come up with? Two more years until this jackass is gone.

I'd say we have a Nixonian white house at this point.
I watched the imperial ceremony held outside the Pentagon for Rumsfeld's departure.
Very Nixonian.
They were all commending each other.
In their distorted views of themselves they are still waging a holy war against Al Queda in Iraq.
There's a total disconnect between the way they see themselves (i.e., crusaders) versus the way the American people see them.
How they'll win it?
Just pour in more troops.
And then more.
And more.
And more.
