Grocery Store Rumors

...
Not that it’s a big deal but I hear the Cub Foods stores in Springfield will all be converting to County Markets at some point in the future. This after Cub’s parent company (which also owns County Markets) bought the cities two Jewel stores, turning one into a County Market and one into a Cub. If true, the best part of the deal is County Markets bag your groceries for you, something you have to do yourself at Cub.

A couple of weeks ago I went to the Cub store that took over Jewel on south sixth and they bagged my groceries. It was well stocked and everything was great. In fact, they had more help for shoppers than Schnucks did a week later.

I live near Cub on Veterans, but I'll go there only if I'm getting just a few things. It's a pain bagging a full load of groceries while having to deal with two little kids.

I totally don't mind paying more for grocs if I can get some pimply-faced teenager to absentmindedly chuck them into bags for me.

The County Market seems to have more accurate price scanning than the Jewel/Cub does on S. 6th St.

I prefer the County Market over the Jewel/Cub. I like the option of buying hot food in the deli.
