President Bush Today:
And years from now, when America looks out on a democratic Middle East growing in freedom and prosperity, Americans will speak of the battles like Fallujah with the same awe and reverence that we now give to Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima.Me today:
Dear Mr. President,
Please stop comparing your little war in Iraq with World War II. They have nothing in common and you’re making an ass of yourself (again) trying to make the square war fit into the round history.
Thank You,
Dave

Dave,
After driving off the ordinary inhabitants of Fallujah, didn't we level most of that city?
And didn't most of the "terrorist" just walk away from Fallujah, heading for other towns?
I don't doubt the bravery of our soldiers who fought the battle - I have nothing but the greatest respect for them.
But didn't we just back out, after cutting a deal?
I'm really confused.
Wasn't Guadalcanal a very costly, but very necessary, and total victory for the U.S.?
Isn't it true that from December of 1941 to the end of that world war that the U.S. propped up the Soviets, and Chinese, in their darkest hours, Kept Britain from sinking, liberated Western Europe, liberated North Africa, liberated South East Asia, and totally vanquished our enemies?
Isn't it true that we had risen from a great economic depression, and ended the war as the world's preeminent economic, cultural, and military power?
Wasn't it true that millions the world over saw the United States as a beacon of shining light - of freedom, and hope?
Help me Dave, because I'm confused.
Does Bush really believe that he has achieved some similar success in Iraq?
