The Late, Great Population Issue

I remember growing up in the 1960s and 1970s, a lot was written and discussed concerning population and population control. The idea was, that sooner rather than later there were going to be more people alive on Earth than the planet could sustain. But for some reason, that notion seems to have completely disappeared in recent decades. Yet, I think, many of the problems that are on our radar are a direct result of the exploding human population. Food shortages, energy prices, illegal immigration and global warming are just some of the issues that have roots in nearly unchecked population growth. But no one is talking about it.

35 or 40 years ago, the Catholic Church was subject to a lot of criticism for its stands against any form of birth control. Many Catholic third world countries were seeing an expansion of their population, and the resulting furthering of poverty, while the Catholic Church made it a sin to practice birth control. I always found (and still do find) that to be incredibly irresponsible. But again, I don’t hear much about that anymore.

I just think that it’s time we revisit the idea of controlling the population a bit better than we do now. I’m not sure how we lost focus on it in the first place, but it’s time we rediscover an “old” problem.

Bush once hired a guy to lead the FDA that wrote a book about getting "the Pill" banned.

Elitist Bush is not afraid if one of his daughters get pregnant by the pool boy. He can afford to send the kid to France for an abortion, then send her the spa.

Obama has already said that he would get his daughters an abortion when they get knocked up...with his sweetheart book deals and insiders real estate deals from Rezko he should have no problem paying for the trip to France either.

RM

Are you not feelin' the love for Obama anymore?

Insider real estate deals? What you been smoking?!? Please provide the source for your bullshit.

And another difference is that Obama will fight for the rights for everyone else that can't afford trips to France. Bush only cares about the rich.

Nancy,

When Obama claimed that middle town America clings to God and the 2nd Amendment as some type of crutch, he lost me. Gues what, I am small town America and believe in God and the 2nd Amendment. He shows how out of touch he really is. He has spent too much time in the classroom. At one time, I did think that he might have been able to bring America together, but so far, I am not seeing anything from him that is some type of olive branch.

Geek, dont you follow the Rezko trial? Dont you know that Rezko has strong ties to a banished Iraqi billionaire? Doesnt it seem odd to you that Rezko and Obama closed on lots right next to each other, in the exact same condition, on the same day and yet Rezko paid substantially more money for his lot? He was paying Obama back for something. Dont you find it odd that Rezko never lived there? That the lost is vacant? That Rezko sold a strip of his lot to Obama? Thus making Rezko's lot considerably smaller and thus less valuable? Dont you think that the now Rezko vacant, which Obama gardeners maintained, was really just a way for Rezko to "give" Obama 600k or so?.....that is the insider real estate deal I am referring to.

Rick, if you said 2 + 2 = 5, I'd call you an idiot. Don't you think it is very weird that the liberal media never even bother to ask the previous owners?!?
Rezko also is close friends with Fox News commentator and McCain adviser (without never disclosing that) Karl Rove. He ask Rove to get an A.G. Fitz fired.

And for the record, 2 + 2 = 4.

Geek,

Actually I am guessing that you support AG Fitzgerald. So do I. I think all Illinois politiicians are running scared. After Blago, Daley is next!

I am for anybody that stops corruption, and thank you for changing the subject so you don't have to admit how wrong the "right"-wingers are about Obama-Rezko.

I still stand by my statement that the Rezko Obama deal smelled bad. I didnt claim it was illegal, but for someone who is for "change", seems like its so the same old corruption to me.

What smells bad is your failure to read the article and stick by the wrong wing lies.
Doesnt it seem odd to you that Rezko and Obama closed on lots right next to each other, in the exact same condition, on the same day and yet Rezko paid substantially more money for his lot?
That is a lie, Rezko paid 625k$ for an empty lot and Obama paid 1.65Mill for a full lot with a house. Simple math: empty lot does not equal (exact same condition) as a lot with a house.
He was paying Obama back for something. Paying somebody else for property does not equal "paying Obama".
Dont you find it odd that Rezko never lived there? That the lost is vacant?
Would you live in an empty lot? You ever hear of investment property?!?
That Rezko sold a strip of his lot to Obama? Thus making Rezko's lot considerably smaller and thus less valuable?
"In January 2006, Rita Rezko sold the Obamas one-sixth of the lot, for $104,500". 1/6 less land is not considerably smaller and when you sell the land you do not get less value.
Dont you think that the now Rezko vacant, which Obama gardeners maintained, was really just a way for Rezko to "give" Obama 600k or so?
"She later sold the rest of the land to Michael Sreenan, who said by e-mail yesterday that he bought it in late December 2006 for $575,000." That is not Rezko's lot if somebody else bought it, thanks for being wrong again. So now for the math 575K + 105K = 680K$ that the lot was sold for. Since the lot was bought for 625K$, they (Rezko, not Obama) made 55K$ profit . The gardeners take care of the empty lot because who would want it full of weeds and high grass?!? I am patiently waiting how this comes out to "give" Obama 600k or so?

That is the idiocy and lies from the wrong wing I keep referring to. Stick by your lies and delusions, I'll stick with the truth and reality.

Good reply GG. To bad it takes so much effort just to get the truth out.

However, this argument has nothing to do with my original post. RM quite often (but not always) hijacks the comments for his own purposes. And while I now like having someone else putting in the effort to smack him down (I've been ignoring him), I'm getting a little tired of the whole thing and plan to put a stop to it. See a future post for details.
