The Illimpiad?

Could the Summer Olympics come to Illinois? Chicago is investigating the possibility.
SPRINGFIELD -- In the coming days, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is expected to reveal who will lead an investigation into whether the city should submit a bid to host the 2016 Olympic summer games.

Whoever is picked will work to determine how much the games might cost and where the money would come from to pay for the 17-day event.

Details about which venues would be used to host events, including any downstate, remain unknown, but reports indicate Daley already has sent emissaries on scouting missions for possible sites.
Hmmm. That would be very cool on one level but the cost of hosting in dollars, as the article points out, may make the whole thing impossible to justify financially. Ah, hell, let’s go for it.
