Act of Petition

Are online petitions as totally meaningless as I think? Does anyone really pay attention to them? I’ve signed a few, including this one today, but it really doesn’t feel like I’m doing something in the real world.

For a lot of groups, circulating a peition is about collecting names and contact information for people interested in their issue as much as it is about sending something to the elected official.
Whether its taken seriously depends on the elected official. There are probably a lot of conservatives in Congress who see anything from MoveOn and throw it in the trash.

Dave,

I dont think the online petitions are taken seriously at all.

Not that they are the end all, but the NRA sends me pre-addressed post cards to send to my Senators and Representatives. They seem to have a little more weight than the online petitions.

Good Luck.
