Two Items

Posted without comment:

1) “The Army missed its recruiting goals in June for the second straight month, as rising casualties in Iraq and a strong economy at home kept the service from enlisting enough new soldiers, Pentagon officials said.”

2) The Bush twins were out “having fun last week” in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC. The girls “had a handful of preppy-looking boys surrounding them.” The DC Examiner reports, “Jenna looked great and was enjoying standing outside with her cigarette talking to her tall, country-club-looking friends who appeared to be 35-plus. … Barbara had a nice-looking black dress on and [had] what looked like a Jager bomb towards the end of the night.”

And last week, Al Gore Jr., showed what a great parent Algore sr was by being pulled over going over 100mph with a suitcase full of drugs. But hey, he was driving a hybrid so that makes it OK.

Who knew a Prius even could do 100 mph? At least Al III is an environmentally sound speeder.

Of course anything the democrats do is ok. Too bad Clintoon didn't have the balls to go after terrorist leaders like GWB.

You are correct Dave. Your post was about the child of a 2 term president. My post was about the child of a one time loser who tried to steal the election in Florida. Thank God justice prevailed.

Thank you, Dave. Your meaning isn't lost on me, as the mother of a young woman who joined the United States Army just this May.

Marie,

I get it too. I would never have thought I'd be saying this, but it's high time to bring back the draft.

A government for the rich, and by the rich doesn't care about poor, and middle class kids who serve their nation.

I know people will say the rich kids will just get deferments, but our occupation of Iraq would come to a quick end if we brough back the draft.

Jerome,

I agree with you 100% that the draft should be brought back. Not only would it make the decision to go to war tougher for our politicians. I think society as a whole would benefit from the discipline, work ethic, and sense of self worth that the military could instill in our nations youth.

My proposal (not that I carry any weight) would be for all 18 year olds to serve 12-18 months. I believe crime would decrease, and the military could help out in many community development projects. I think everyone wins in this scenario...sort of like another TVA project.
