I was just listening to WUIS and they were doing a story on the just-passed state budget. It was passed along party lines with Republicans opposing the spending plan. WUIS interviewed Springfield Rep. Raymond Poe (R-Pancake Breakfast), who claimed that "everything went to Cook County". Yes, Ray, everything went to Cook County. Here we go again, Springfield whining about how picked upon it is by Chicago. First they try to steal the capital and now they take our lunch money, whaaaaaa! Funny how downstate Dems don't see it that way. I would think even party loyalty would not stop downstate Dems from complaining their districts got nothing. But whatever, Ray Baby, and good luck on the Lt. Governor thing.
WUIS did report there is nothing in the new budget for Capitol Avenue improvements. There was some speculation the project might get state funds. I guess it all went to Cook County. I wonder how hard Poe tried to get the funding in the budget?
